James S. Thaxton 
James S. was born on November 15th, 1834 in Virginia. James S.'s father was Sheppard Thaxton and his mother was Martha J. McCormick. His paternal grandparents were David Franklin Thaxton and Sarah Sheppard. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Levi A., David Leander, William Shepherd "Will", Mary E., Margaret S., Louisa R., Martha Jane, Nancy S. and Ellen C.. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 53 on July 14th, 1888.-
