Arretta Braswell 
Arretta was born on May 15th, 1835 in Edgecombe Co. NC. Arretta's father was Robert Russell Braswell and her mother was Anselina Stringer. Her paternal grandfather was Permentor Braswell; her maternal grandparents were William Stringer and Keziah Pitt. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Joseph James, Benjamin Guilford, Thomas Permenter, Robert Stringer, John Daniel, Keziah Margaret, Elizabeth Catherine and Anselina Jane "Lanie". She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
Arretta and James H. were married in a religious ceremony on March 11th, 1858.
