Mathew Calvin was born on January 6th, 1894 in Coffee Co., AL.1 Mathew Calvin's father was Joseph Thomas Rushing and his mother was Hulda Rebecca Melvina Josephine Floyd. His paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson; his maternal grandparents were Calvin Floyd and Hulda Adkison. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Willie Lee, Charlie D., Frank Jefferson, Dan, Curtis Kirkland, Ida Elizabeth, Annie S., Lula Leola, Minnie and Nora Rebecca Lena Bell.
