Curtis Kirkland was born on January 29th, 1913 in AL.1 Curtis Kirkland's father was Joseph Thomas Rushing and his mother was Hulda Rebecca Melvina Josephine Floyd. His paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson; his maternal grandparents were Calvin Floyd and Hulda Adkison. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Mathew Calvin, Willie Lee, Charlie D., Frank Jefferson, Dan, Ida Elizabeth, Annie S., Lula Leola, Minnie and Nora Rebecca Lena Bell. He was the youngest of the eleven children.-
