Dan was born on November 23rd, 1907 in Coffee Co., AL.1 Dan's father was Joseph Thomas Rushing and his mother was Hulda Rebecca Melvina Josephine Floyd. His paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson; his maternal grandparents were Calvin Floyd and Hulda Adkison. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Mathew Calvin, Willie Lee, Charlie D., Frank Jefferson, Curtis Kirkland, Ida Elizabeth, Annie S., Lula Leola, Minnie and Nora Rebecca Lena Bell. He was the second youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 81 on September 29th, 1989 in FL. He was buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Winter Garden, FL..1 1 General Notes
