Charlie D. Rushing 
Charlie D. was born on January 15th, 1902 in AL.1 Charlie D.'s father was Joseph Thomas Rushing and his mother was Hulda Rebecca Melvina Josephine Floyd. His paternal grandparents were Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and Sarah Jane Amerson; his maternal grandparents were Calvin Floyd and Hulda Adkison. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Mathew Calvin, Willie Lee, Frank Jefferson, Dan, Curtis Kirkland, Ida Elizabeth, Annie S., Lula Leola, Minnie and Nora Rebecca Lena Bell. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 74 on June 19th, 1976 in AL. He was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery, Samson, AL..1 1 General Notes

Charlie worked on the farm with his father, and at the age of fifteen,
joined the Army. He served in World War I and sailed from the U. S. 16
Mar 1918 for Germany and France. He was on the police force in Samson, AL
and Atmore, AL until his retirement.
