Laura S. was born on June 16th, 1909.1 Laura S.'s father was Baron DeKalb Washington Rushing and her mother was Mary Bell Rudd. Her paternal grandparents were Mathew Malachi Rushing and Martha E. Ham. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Charlie M., Baron DeKalb Washington, Jr., Andrew Jackson, William Wesley, Phillip Jefferson, Etta, Carrie Bell and Cora Lee. She was the third youngest of the nine children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John Thomas Edmous, Leroy, Franklin Jerome, Bessie Mae, Annie Beatrice, Edith and Mary E.. She died at the age of 80 in 1989.1 -
