Malissa Jane was born on February 3rd, 1842 in Lowndes Co., AL.1 Malissa Jane's father was Benjamin Franklin Castellaw and her mother was Mary Louisa Jordan. Her paternal grandparents were John Bryant Castellow and Amy Hill McClendon; her maternal grandparents were Felix Jordan and Sarah C. Champion. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James Monroe, Jonas Archilas, John Doson, Felix Jordan, Sarah Ann, Mary Frances, Martha Elizabeth, Althie Caroline and Avarilla Cathrine. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 94 on December 22nd, 1936 in Scurry Co., TX. She was buried in Ira Cemetery, Scurry Co., TX.1 1 General Notes
