Her paternal grandparents were John Bryant Castellow and Amy Hill McClendon; her maternal grandparents were Felix Jordan and Sarah C. Champion. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James Monroe, Jonas Archilas, John Doson, Felix Jordan, Malissa Jane, Mary Frances, Martha Elizabeth, Althie Caroline and Avarilla Cathrine.
