His paternal grandparents were Count/ Lambert I DE LOUVAIN II "The Belted" and Ode DE LORRAINE; his maternal grandfather was Count Eberhard OF THE BETUWE. Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
