John Mathewson 
John was born on October 6th, 1699 in Providence, Providence Co., RI. John's father was John Mathewson and his mother was Deliverance Malavery. His paternal grandparents were James Mathewson and Hannah Field. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, Israel, Lydia, Elizabeth, Ann and Jemima. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 92 on April 28th, 1792 in Johnston, Providence Co., RI.General Notes
Child list from World Family Tree vol 18 # 1356 Johnston was take off from Sci tuate. Not sure of year. So it depends on when it happened, wether children w ere born in Scituate or Johnston. The Mathewson property is located at the boundry of Scituate, Smithfield, Johnston and Glocester. About 1/4 mile nort h of "Moswansicut Pond" at the junction of Winsor, Steere and Angell roads. On the west side is Rt 116 "West Greenville Road". A number of "Mathewson" fami ly members are buried in the "Thomas Mathewson Lot" listed in the Rhode Island Historical Cemetery Transcription Index as # SC 098. The "natives" refer to the cemetery as the "John Mathewson Lot". This eliminates confusion with the "Thomas Mathewson Lot" # SC 016, located about 1/2 mile south on Rt 116 (west side of road) near Pole Bridge Road.
