Joan De was born about 1245 in Calne, Wiltshire, England.  Joan De's father was William De Cantilupe and her mother was Eva Braose.  Her paternal grandparents were William II De William Cantelou and Milicent De Gournay; her maternal grandparents were William IV The Younger De Braose Lord Bramber and Eve Marshall. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, George, Thomas, Juliane, Millicent De and George De.  She died before June 1271.

‌Joan De and Henry De were married in a religious ceremony about 1255.  They had two sons and three daughters, named John 1St Baron De, Edmund, Audra, Lora De and Margaret.
