Hugh V Seigneur De was born about 1098 in Gournay-En-Bray, Seine-Inferieure, Normandy, France.  Hugh V Seigneur De's father was Gerard Seigneur De Gournay and his mother was Edith De Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh IV Seigneur De Gournay and Basilie Flaitel; his maternal grandparents were William I De Warenne 1st Earl Of Surrey and Gundrada Of Fleming [Princess]. He had a brother and two sisters, named Walter De, Gundred De and Miss De.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Dreux IV Sire De.  He died in 1180 in Holy Land - On Crusade.

‌Hugh V Seigneur De and Melesinde De were married in a religious ceremony about 1150 in Boves, Somme, France.  They had a son named Hugh VI Seigneur De.
