Stephen Longespée was born in 1216 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.1 Stephen Longespée's father was William Longespée of Earl of Salisbury and his mother was Ela FitzPatrick Cts de Salisbury. His paternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and Ida (Isabel) Plantagenet; his maternal grandparents were William FitzPatrick de Earl of Salisbury and Alianor de Vitrei. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sir William Longespée II, Ida and Idonea. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 44 in 1260 in Sutton, Northamptonshire.
