Henry I Beauclerc was born about September 1068 in Selby, Yorkshire, England.1 Henry I Beauclerc's father was William I the Conqueror King of England and his mother was Matilda (Maud) de Flanders. His paternal grandparents were Robert II the Devil Duke of Normandy and Herleva (Arlette) de Falaise; his maternal grandparents were Baudouin V the Pious Ct de Flanders and Adela (Alix) Capet de France Cts de Contenance. He had a sister named Adela (Alice). He was the younger of the two children. He died on December 1st, 1135 in St. Denis-le-Fermont, Forest of Angers, near Rouen, Normandy.
