Matilda (Edith) was born in October 1079 in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland.1   Matilda (Edith)'s father was Malcolm III Caennmor King of Scots and her mother was Margaret the Exile of Wessex.  Her paternal grandparents were Duncan I MacCrinan the Gracious King of Scots and Aelflaed (Sybil) of Northumbria; her maternal grandparents were Edward the Outlaw Atheling of England and Agatha von Brunswick. She had two brothers and a sister, named Duncan II of Scotland, David I and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 38 on May 1st, 1118 in Westminster Palace, London, England.  She was buried in Interred at Westminster Abbey, London, England (or Winchester)..1 1
