David I was born about 1080 in Scotland.1   David I's father was Malcolm III Caennmor King of Scots and his mother was Margaret the Exile of Wessex.  His paternal grandparents were Duncan I MacCrinan the Gracious King of Scots and Aelflaed (Sybil) of Northumbria; his maternal grandparents were Edward the Outlaw Atheling of England and Agatha von Brunswick. He had a brother and two sisters, named Duncan II of Scotland, Matilda (Edith) and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the four children.  He died on May 24th, 1153 in Carlisle, Cumberland, England.  He was buried in Acceded: 23 Apr 1124..1 1
