Richard Brantley was born on February 15th, 1900.1 Richard Brantley's father was James Medicus Benton and his mother was Annie Elizabeth Bishop. His paternal grandparents were Edward H. Benton and Martha Ann Elizabeth Varn. He had six brothers and four sisters, named David Benjamin, Kelly Lee, Laurie Jasper, James McDuffie, George Talbert, Edward Heyward, Janie, Beulah May, D. Effie and Infant. He was the second youngest of the eleven children.1 -
