Horace Greeley was born on December 1st, 1866 in Beaverdam, Hanover Co., VA. Horace Greeley's father was Zephaniah Powhatan Stanley and his mother was Margaret Perlina Hall. His paternal grandparents were William Stanley and Juriah Rice; his maternal grandparents were Thompson Hall and Elizabeth Harris. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Travis Sidney, Ezra Powhatan, Chester Allen, Floyd, Deliah Lee, Ida Grant and Ada Rose. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John Henry, William Alcie, Dahlquern Thompson, Thomas Jefferson and Lorinda. He died at the age of 33 on April 18th, 1900 in Beaverdam, Hanover Co., VA.-
