Floyd was born on March 7th, 1885 in Beaverdam, Hanover Co., VA.  Floyd's father was Zephaniah Powhatan Stanley and his mother was Margaret Perlina Hall.  His paternal grandparents were William Stanley and Juriah Rice; his maternal grandparents were Thompson Hall and Elizabeth Harris. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Travis Sidney, Horace Greeley, Ezra Powhatan, Chester Allen, Deliah Lee, Ida Grant and Ada Rose.  He was the youngest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John Henry, William Alcie, Dahlquern Thompson, Thomas Jefferson and Lorinda.  He died at 5 months old on August 17th, 1885.
