John Carter 
John was born in 1689 in "Corotoman", Lancaster Co., VA. John's father was Robert Carter and his mother was Judith Armistead. His paternal grandparents were John Carter and Sarah Ludlow; his maternal grandparents were John Armistead and Judith Bowles Robinson. He had four sisters named Elizabeth, Judith, Sarah and Judith. He was the oldest of the five children. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Robert, Charles, Ludlow, Landon, George, Anne, Sarah, Betty, Mary and Lucy. He died at the age of 53 in July 1742 in of "dropsy of the belly".-
