Joseph Newiss

Joseph was born in March 1857 in Boston Spa, Yorkshire, England.¹ Joseph's father was Joseph Newiss and his mother was Ann Hartley. His paternal grandparents were Robert Newis and Sara (Newhouse). He had five brothers and five sisters, named James, Enoch, Edwin C, Charles, Frank, Elizabeth, Sarah Elizabeth, Kate, Esther Ann and Ruth. He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.
