Esther Ann was born in 1862 in Boston Spa, Yorkshire, England.1   Esther Ann's father was Joseph Newiss and her mother was Ann Hartley.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Newis and Sara (Newhouse).  She had six brothers and four sisters, named James, Enoch, Joseph, Edwin C, Charles, Frank, Elizabeth, Sarah Elizabeth, Kate and Ruth.  She was the eighth oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 66 in December 1928.
