Kate

Kate was born in 1860 in Boston Spa, Yorkshire, England.¹ Kate's father was Joseph Newiss and her mother was Ann Hartley. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Newis and Sara (Newhouse). She had six brothers and four sisters, named James, Enoch, Joseph, Edwin C, Charles, Frank, Elizabeth, Sarah Elizabeth, Esther Ann and Ruth. She was the seventh oldest of the eleven children.
