James was born on March 5th, 1764 in Ashton On Mersey, Cheshire, England.  James' father was John MARSLAND and his mother was Mary WILLIAMSON.  He had four brothers and six sisters, named Robert, John, Edward, Edward, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth, Rachel, Mary and Betty.  He was the youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 60 in 1824 in Ashton On Mersey, Cheshire, England.
