Richard Vance 
Richard was born in 1792.1 Richard's father was Abner , Sr. Vance and his mother was Susanna Howard. His paternal grandparents were Ephraim (Vause) Vance and Theodosia Hewlings; his maternal grandparents were Abraham Howard and Jane Allen. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named John, William, James H., Abner , Jr., Elijah, Tabitha (Tabby), Alena (Adina), Nancy, Millie Mary, Acenthia, Minerva, Sarah and Elizabeth.General Notes

1850 Logan Co., census Richard and Mary Ann Vance had the following
people living in their household. Polly Vance, age 32, John W. Vance,
age 10, William Vance, age 2, Richard Vance, Jr. age 12, Mary Parting age
74, listed as mother in law. Mary Ann Vance reported the death of her
mother Mary Parten, on July 4, 1853. Mary Parten's father was reported
as Drury Simms. Mary Ann Simms was the daughter of Mary Ann Simms
Parten. Mary Ann Simms the mother was never married when Mary Ann
Simms, the daughter was born. Drury Simms was the Revolutionary War hero.
‌Richard and Mary Ann were married in a religious ceremony on March 25th, 1813 in Floyd,Kentucky.1 They had eight sons and a daughter, named William, John Wesley, Abner, Richard , Jr, Meekin, Harlin, Paris L., Lewis G. and Mary "Polly".
