John Vance

John was born in 1781 in Virginia.¹   John's father was Abner , Sr. Vance and his mother was Susanna Howard.  His paternal grandparents were Ephraim (Vause) Vance and Theodosia Hewlings; his maternal grandparents were Abraham Howard and Jane Allen. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named William, Richard, James H., Abner , Jr., Elijah, Tabitha (Tabby), Alena (Adina), Nancy, Millie Mary, Acenthia, Minerva, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He died about 1855 in Logan,WVA.¹
