James, known as Jim, was born on November 21st, 1906 in Ballygalda.1   Jim's father was Patrick Larkin and his mother was Catherine Brennan.  His paternal grandparents were John Larkin and Margaret Connor; his maternal grandparents were John Brennan and Ellen Quigley. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Paddy, Tommy, Willie, Margaret, Maureen, Lena, Kitty and Brigid.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 80 on March 28th, 1987.2
