Matilda Varcoe 
Matilda was born in 1857 and her baptism took place on March 26th, 1859 in St Newlyna. Matilda's father was William Varcoe and her mother was Elizabeth Nancarrow. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Varcoe and Elizabeth Searle. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Alfred, William, Robert, Ellen, Bessie, Emma, Mary and Christiana. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 85 on February 15th, 1942 in Christchurch. The funeral took place in St Saviour's Church of England. She was buried in Sydenham.
Matilda and Richard were married on June 13th, 1880 in Holy Trinity Church, Avonside. They had four sons and four daughters, named Reginald, Richard, Frederick, Cecil, Elizabeth, Violet, Gladys and Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was born on February 3rd, 1885. She died at 1 months old on March 13th, 1885 in Christchurch.
Violet May Sharpe
Violet was born on August 18th, 1886. She died at the age of 23 on January 18th, 1910 in Christchurch.
Gladys Elise Sharpe
Gladys was born on September 10th, 1888. She died at the age of 86 on March 20th, 1975.
Elizabeth Sharpe
Elizabeth was born on July 4th, 1890 in Ellesmere, Christchurch. She died at the age of 80 on July 7th, 1970 in Auckland.
Frederick James Sharpe
Frederick was born on May 19th, 1895. He died at the age of 72 in 1967 in Christchurch.
Cecil Warren Sharpe
Cecil was born on November 15th, 1899. He died at the age of 78 on June 16th, 1978 in Wellington.
