Alfred was born in 1843 and his baptism took place on March 20th, 1850 in St Newlyna.  Alfred's father was William Varcoe and his mother was Elizabeth Nancarrow.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Varcoe and Elizabeth Searle. He had two brothers and six sisters, named William, Robert, Ellen, Bessie, Emma, Mary, Christiana and Matilda.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 25 on November 13th, 1868.



Alfred's family

‌Alfred and Martha were married in 1868 in Papanui.  They had a daughter named Alfredina.  There are no more children.
