Gerrit was born on February 20th, 1834 in Zwammerdam.1  Gerrit's father was Cornelis Abrahamszn Hoogendoorn and his mother was Annigje de Jong.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Dirkszn Hoogendoorn and Neeltje Cornelisdr de Haan; his maternal grandparents were Arie Gerritszn de Jong and Aaltje Gerritsdr Hoogendoorn. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named Arij, Jan, N.N., Gerrit, Gerrit, Jacob, Jacob, Floris, Aaltje, Aaltje and Jannigje.  He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Abraham, Cornelis, Marrigje, Marrigje, Marrigje, N.N. and Margje.  He died at just 21 days old on March 13th, 1834 in Zwammerdam.1
