Gerrit was born on February 8th, 1836 in Zwammerdam.1  Gerrit's father was Cornelis Abrahamszn Hoogendoorn and his mother was Annigje de Jong.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Dirkszn Hoogendoorn and Neeltje Cornelisdr de Haan; his maternal grandparents were Arie Gerritszn de Jong and Aaltje Gerritsdr Hoogendoorn. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named Arij, Jan, Gerrit, N.N., Gerrit, Jacob, Jacob, Floris, Aaltje, Aaltje and Jannigje.  He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Abraham, Cornelis, Marrigje, Marrigje, Marrigje, N.N. and Margje.  He died at 2 months old on April 21st, 1836 in Zwammerdam.1
