Cornelis was born on July 2nd, 1823 in Polsbroek.1  Cornelis' father was Cornelis Abrahamszn Hoogendoorn and his mother was Annigje Cornelisdr Verdouw.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Dirkszn Hoogendoorn and Neeltje Cornelisdr de Haan. He had a brother and five sisters, named Abraham, Marrigje, Marrigje, Marrigje, N.N. and Margje.  He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had nine half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Arij, Jan, Gerrit, N.N., Gerrit, Gerrit, Jacob, Jacob, Floris, Aaltje, Aaltje and Jannigje.  He died at the age of 59 on December 6th, 1882 in Zwammerdam.2
