John was born in 1805 in Oakley, Hampshire and his christening took place there on January 20th, 1805.1 2   John's father was Peter Oliver and his mother was Sarah Worte.  His paternal grandparents were William Oliver and Anna Decker. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, Peter, Abraham, George, James, George, Kezia, Sarah, Jane and Mary.  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.
