Sarah was born in 1880 in Carlton, Yorkshire.1  Sarah's father was John Morritt and her mother was Emma Brown.  Her maternal grandparents were Charles Brown and Sarah Brewins. She had three brothers and six sisters, named George, Thomas, Arthur, Ellen, Annie, Mary, Emma, Ada and Edith.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
