Annie was born in 1882 in Carlton, Yorkshire.1  Annie's father was John Morritt and her mother was Emma Brown.  Her maternal grandparents were Charles Brown and Sarah Brewins. She had three brothers and six sisters, named George, Thomas, Arthur, Ellen, Sarah, Mary, Emma, Ada and Edith.  She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
