John Gannaway

John was born in September 1844 in Southampton, Hampshire.¹ John's father was Thomas Joseph Gannaway and his mother was Susan Devine. His paternal grandparents were Henry George Gannaway and Ann Mainer. He had six brothers and three sisters, named George, Thomas, William, Thomas, Nathanial, Harry, Harriet, Anne and Lydia. He was the third oldest of the ten children.
