George Gannaway

George was born in September 1841 in Romsey, Hampshire.¹ George's father was Thomas Joseph Gannaway and his mother was Susan Devine. His paternal grandparents were Henry George Gannaway and Ann Mainer. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Thomas, Nathanial, Harry, Harriet, Anne and Lydia. He was the oldest of the ten children.
