Henry was born in 1789 in South Stoneham, Hampshire and his christening took place there on January 25th, 1789.1   Henry's father was James Gannaway and his mother was Mary Hawks.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gannaway and Mary. He had six brothers named James, Thomas, Stephen, Thomas, George and Elijah.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 56 in 1845 in Southampton, Hampshire.1
