Thomas was born in 1779 in South Stoneham, Hampshire and his christening took place there on October 31st, 1779.1 2   Thomas' father was James Gannaway and his mother was Mary Hawks.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gannaway and Mary. He had six brothers named James, Stephen, Thomas, George, Henry and Elijah.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 2 on January 8th, 1781 in South Stoneham, Hampshire.2
