Elijah was born in 1790 in South Stoneham, Hampshire and his christening took place there on March 14th, 1790.1 2  Elijah's father was James Gannaway and his mother was Mary Hawks.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gannaway and Mary. He had six brothers named James, Thomas, Stephen, Thomas, George and Henry.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died on May 16th, 1790 in South Stoneham, Hampshire.2
