Margaret's father was Peter Turner and her mother was Catherine Stewart.  Her paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. She had a brother and seven sisters, named John, Janet, Mary, Catharine, Agnes, Annie, Isabella and Peterina.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 19 on August 17th, 1877 in Portobello.  She was buried in Ratho.^2 2
