Peter was born in 1810 in Whitburn.1   Peter's father was John Turner and his mother was Janet Marshall.  His paternal grandparents were William Turner and Jean Russell. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, John, James, Richard, Mary and Agnes.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died due to a medical problem, Gastric fever, 3 weeks, Cerebral involution, at the age of 51 on December 18th, 1861 in Ratho.  He was buried in Ratho.2 3 4
