John was born on May 23rd, 1777 in Shotts and his baptism took place there in May 1777.1 2  John's father was William Turner and his mother was Jean Russell. He had a brother named Peter.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 67 on July 30th, 1844.  He was buried in Whitburn.3 3
