Agnes' father was Peter Turner and her mother was Catherine Stewart.  Her paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. She had a brother and seven sisters, named John, Janet, Mary, Catharine, Annie, Margaret, Isabella and Peterina.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
