Marion was born in 1870 in New Cumnock.

Marion's father was John Love and her mother was Elizabeth McLatchie. Her maternal grandparents were Hugh McLatchie and Hannah Goldie. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Alexander, Thomas, Hugh, Robert, William, Hanna, Mary, Elizabeth, Jemima and Janet. She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 59 in 1929 in New Cumnock.
