Elizabeth's father was John Love and her mother was Elizabeth McLatchie. Her maternal grandparents were Hugh McLatchie and Hannah Goldie. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Alexander, Thomas, Hugh, Robert, William, Hanna, Mary, Marion, Jemima and Janet. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 1 in 1863 in Dumfriesshire.
