Joan was born about 1375 in England.  Joan's father was John of Gaunt and her mother was Catherine Roet.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward III Plantagenet and Phillipa De Hainault; her maternal grandparents were Payne De Roet and Catherine De Hainault. She had three brothers named John, Henry and Thomas.  She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Henry IV, Catalina, Philippa, Elizabeth and Isabel.  She died on November 13th, 1440 in Howden, Yorkshire, England.  She was buried in Lincoln Cathedral Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.


Joan's family with Ralph De Neville

‌Joan and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony before November 29th, 1396 in Chateau De Beaufort, Maine et Loire, France.  They had nine sons and five daughters, named Richard, Henry, Thomas, Cuthbert, Robert, John, Edward, William, George, Joan, Catherine, Eleanor, Anne and Cecily.
