His paternal grandparents were George Washington Young and Diademia Rice; his maternal grandparents were Edward McClung and Melvina Young. He had five brothers and six sisters, named George Edward, Stanley Rice, Albert Russell, William John, George Washington, Mary Margaret, Rose Lee, Fannie Ethel, Rose Ellen, Lillian Mae and Nell Mabel. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at 9 months old on December 20th, 1876 in Hamburg,Freemont,IA.-
