John McClung 
John was born in 1706 in Galloway,Scotland. John's father was UNKNOWN John. He was an only child. He died at the age of 82 in 1788 in ,Rockbridge,VA.General Notes
He emigrated from Ireland to PA; then to Rockbridge County, VA. He was a farmer and owned 278 acres of land in Rockbridge County in what was known as the "Forks." He sold this farm to his son Edward on 23 Apr 1783. When a neighbor asked what he proposed to do now, he replied, "I propose to live like a gentleman and have all the whiskey I want to drink."
They had seven sons and two daughters, named John, William, James, Samuel, Thomas, Joseph, Charles, Nancy and Janett.
